Bec Purcell

I love how my job is all about making people feel beautiful and confident. Fashion is for everyone and shopping should always be an enjoyable experience!". After working as a hairdresser for almost 20 years and owning her own salon, Bec decided it was time to follow her true passion, to become a stylist and help women and men of all ages with finding their own personal style.

After completing a makeup course at Huxley School of Makeup, where she currently teaches hair styling courses, Bec began styling for photo shoots and music videos, combining all of her skills as a hairdresser, makeup artist and fashion stylist.

Bec has a range of experience in the styling industry having styled magazine cover shoots for Gold Coast Magazine, Get It Magazine, The Courier Mail and various shoots for fashion designers.

Q&A WITH BEC

Describe your personal style in 3 words:
Comfortable, Mish-Mash (old and new, luxe and fast fashion) and Fun

What do you enjoy most about your job?
More than anything I love to make people feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin. Helping people to feel confident and good about themselves.

What is your number one wardrobe staple?
If I could only choose one, I’d have to say a great bag. If my outfit is super casual and I feel underdressed, a cool bag will instantly give me a lift.

Who are some of your favourite brands and why?
I love Zara for quirky trendy pieces. Sass and Bide always have great jackets. Country Road is my go-to for smart casual everyday staples, especially pants. Gorman will always have something in a fun print that I can incorporate with my basic and block coloured pieces. I can always find something I love in Silk Laundry; the slip dresses are so versatile and can be worn all year round and perfect for layering. Aje is my new favourite designer for jeans, a pair I bought last season were and still are the best fit and quality denim I have ever come across.

Favourite pieces or looks you are most excited about coming into Autumn Winter 2021?
High waisted tapered cut in pants and jeans, and a cropped ankle is best and gives you more options with shoes. A good quality Blazer is a must and can be worn back with anything from a maxi dress to a track suit.

I will be picking up a few printed shirts from Gorman, I’m loving the earthy tones & a jacket is light and perfect for our climate.
Witchery has some beautiful shirts and blazers; I am loving the volume in sleeves that will be popular this season.
Sass and bide has some great high-top sneakers that would go with anything. Red is a big trend for this season, but I love it anyway, always a good idea to add colour to winter looks.
Aje also has so many gorgeous jeans and pants at the moment.
