 Pacific Fair supports Earth Hour


Pacific Fair has committed to the launch of the Earth Hour campaign to turn off the lights for one hour at 7:30pm on Saturday 31 March as part of a broader effort to reduce global warming.
While Earth Hour is a Sydney-based initiative of conservation group WWF-Australia, Pacific Fair will extend its support for the campaign and join forces with other AMP Capital Shopping Centres Australia-wide to participate in the event.
Pacific Fair will support Earth Hour at a local level by turning off all of the centre’s external and façade neon lighting to reduce its lighting output and show that it is easy to help make a difference to climate change.

Along with turning off the lights for one hour, Earth Hour is urging businesses and members of the public to turn off non-essential appliances that are on standby or not being used.

Other Earth Hour activities also include a community education campaign to highlight the potential threats of global warming and offer advice on how individuals can help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Centre Manager Ian Spackman says the centre is proud to be joining forces with businesses and individuals in the local community and other AMP Capital Shopping Centres across Australia, to collectively turn off as many lights as possible during Earth Hour.

“The centre is the perfect venue from which to assert a positive message about caring for the planet, and we hope to set an example for our customers and retailers to show how easy it can be introduce some changes to our day-to-day activities that support a more environmentally sustainable future”, Mr Spackman said.
